Fast positioning speeds and extended table size make for efficient long part processing
Florence, Kentucky, October 25, 2011 – Shown at T3 – Tomorrow's Technology Today, a Discover Mazak 2011 event, the SUPER VELOCITY CENTER 2000L/200-II rapid traverses at speeds up to 4,724 ipm (120 m/min) in its X-axis. Such extremely fast axis positioning speeds, along with a long table measuring 212" x 20" (5,384 mm x 508 mm) and accommodating up to 7,496 lbs (3,400 kg), allow the machine to considerably reduce non-cut time for extremely long aerospace parts, conveyor sections and other heavy workpieces.
Linear motors drive the X-axis on the SUPER VELOCITY CENTER 2000L/200-II, a fixed-table, traveling-column vertical machining center. The motors move the machine's 40-taper 15,000-rpm, 30 hp (22 kW) spindle along the X-axis stroke measuring 200" (5,080 mm) to traverse from one end of the machine's 212.6" (5,400 mm)-long worktable to the other with incredible speed for large, long workpieces.
The SUPER VELOCITY 2000L/200-II also provides rapid traverse speeds of 1,968 ipm (50 m/min) in the Y and Z-axes. And for part processing flexibility, the machine's automatic tool changer provides storage for 30 tools.
