Florence, Kentucky, May 1, 2012 - Mazak has long served the oil and gas industry, continuously developing solutions that tackle the toughest manufacturing challenges. The company will further demonstrate its ongoing commitment to this sector by hosting a Discover More With Mazak Open House at its Southwest Technology Center in Houston, Texas. At the event, taking place June 6 and 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. CST, Mazak will unveil its new SLANT TURN NEXUS 600 and demonstrate how advanced manufacturing systems paired with expert guidance can meet the growing production needs of the energy sector while boosting profitability.
Mazak's SLANT TURN NEXUS Series is a heavy-duty line of CNC turning centers capable of efficiently machining large, long shaft-type workpieces, including oil field pipes and pipeline control valves. Open house attendees will experience the advanced technology of this series through real-world application machining demonstrations on the latest SLANT TURN NEXUS 600, featuring a 14.7" spindle bore, and SLANT TURN NEXUS 500M, which includes a high-speed milling spindle for roughing, grooving, threading, endmilling and facemilling operations.
Other productivity-improving machine tools Mazak will have in action at the open house are the HORIZONTAL CENTER NEXUS 6800-II horizontal machining center and INTEGREX e-670H-II Multi-Tasking machine. The HORIZONTAL CENTER NEXUS 6800-II employs an advanced headstock design and high-speed, high-accuracy positioning to provide unsurpassed part processing flexibility and significant reductions in non-cut time. The INTEGREX e-670H-II offers full simultaneous 5-axis machining, allowing parts with tapered holes, spiral bevel gears and other complex features to be machined in one setup.
Attendees will also have full access to the Southwest Technology Center's regional industry expertise and application engineering resources. Engineers and technicians will be on hand at the machining demonstrations to answer questions and discuss all aspects of the manufacturing process, including cutting tools, workholding, automation, material handling, quality assurance, chip handling, coolant, safety and software.
The 30,000-square-foot Mazak Southwest Technology Center is located at 10950 Greenbend Blvd. in Houston, Texas, which is part of the Greenspoint District, a community 15 miles north of downtown Houston and minutes from the Bush Intercontinental Airport. Mazak moved its Southwest operations to this 4.5-acre location in June 2011 to bring increased support to manufacturers in all industries, with a special focus on those serving the energy sector. In fact, the Greenspoint District named Mazak the area's 2011 "Company of the Year" for demonstrating an ongoing commitment to the community.
