Florence, Kentucky, March 3, 2011 – Mazak will be showcasing a variety of machine tool technologies geared toward increasing aerospace part production during the AeroDef Manufacturing 2011 show, which will take place on April 5 – 7 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. Special featured machines at Mazak’s booth #1350 will include the VARIAXIS 730-5X II full simultaneous five-axis machining center and the new INTEGREX i-200S Multi-Tasking machine.
Mazak’s high-performance VARIAXIS 730-5X II provides high-speed, heavy-duty, full simultaneous five-axis machining of large, complex parts such as those involved in the aerospace industry. The machine is equipped with a 30-tool magazine standard or 80-tool or 120-tool optional magazines for uninterrupted production.
The machine’s powerful 50-taper spindle features high-performance characteristics, including a maximum spindle speed of 10,000 rpm and 40 hp, while a 1,654 ipm rapid traverse rate in X-, Y-, and Z-axes significantly reduces part cycle times. Additionally, the machine’s high-precision tilting rotary table provides an A-axis (tilting) rotation of 150° and C-axis rotation of ±360°, both in increments as small as 0.0001°. Machine travels measure 28.74” x 33.46” x 22.05” in X, Y, and Z axes, respectively.
Visitors to the Mazak booth will also see the new INTEGREX i-200S Multi-Tasking center that combines extreme versatility and accuracy for complete part machining in one setup. Such capability is particularly beneficial to those aerospace manufacturers machining mid-size, complex components.
The INTEGREX i-200S features two 5,000 rpm spindles, with C-axis control, for single-setup front and back-end part work. The machine accommodates workpieces up to 25.9” in diameter and offers a 3” spindle bore. A powerful 30 hp, 12,000 rpm milling spindle is mounted in the vertical rotating B-axis with a range of 240° that provides precise angle cutting and 5-axis contouring. For both prismatic and cylindrical parts processing, the INTEGREX i-200S boasts an impressive Y-axis travel of 9.8” and vertical X-axis of 24.2”, with 4.92” below centerline.
