Multi-Tasking machine provides advanced process integration in a compact footprint
Florence, Kentucky, October 25, 2011 – The Mazak INTEGREX i-150 Multi-Tasking Machining Center fuses extreme versatility and amazing accuracy for manufacturing small, complex components from bar stock materials. At T3 – Tomorrow's Technology Today, a Discover Mazak 2011 event, the machine showed its fast, reliable and precise "Done-in-One" machining capability, which involves turning, multi-face, multi-angle and full five-axis contouring.
Featuring a space-saving 86.61" x 95.28" (2200 mm x 2420 mm) small footprint, the INTEGREX i-150 offers a front-mounted, optional 72-tool magazine (32-tool standard) for increasing versatility and continuous operation for non-stop part production. Additionally, all lubrication points and gages are part of a single panel for operator ergonomics and ease of maintenance.
The INTEGREX i-150 employs a 15 hp (11 kW) 5,000-rpm main spindle for turning and precise C-axis CNC controlled positioning. The machine's 6" (152 mm) chuck with through hole provides ample room for bar stock capacities up to 2.56" (65 mm). A powerful 10 hp (7.5 kW), 12,000-rpm milling spindle is mounted in the vertical rotating B-axis with a range of -10° to +190°. An optional 7.5 hp (5.5 kW), 20,000-rpm spindle is available for high-speed machining and meeting the demands of high-precision surface finish applications.
Achieving and maintaining high accuracies are accomplished through several design features including Mazak's unique roller cam drive for the machine's rotating B-axis. It features rigidity and zero backlash while reducing friction. Both the turning and milling spindles utilize temperature controlled circulated oil to enhance thermal stability. In addition, the milling spindle is monitored for heat, vibration and displacement as a preventive measure through the Intelligent Performance Spindle (IPS) module.
For off-centerline operations, the INTEGREX i-150 boasts an impressive Y-axis range of ±3.94", while axis travels of 14.57" (370 mm) in X, 17.13" (435 mm) in Z and a 15.75" (400 mm) maximum swing allow the machine to process a wide range of part sizes and shapes.
Integral to the INTEGREX i-150 is a multi-purpose part-handling device, which can index to an NC tailstock for shaft turning or a vise for holding the workpiece while multi-face operations are performed. An unloader is included for automatic part removal, and when equipped with an automatic bar feeder, the INTEGREX i-150 performs unattended continuous machining for long running jobs.
