Originally opened in 1978 and expanded to its new location in 2011, our Southwest Headquarters and Energy Services Technology Center in Houston, Texas has been committed to providing applications expertise and advanced technology solutions to job shops and manufacturing industries throughout the region for over 30-years.
The Southwest Technology Center continues to serve as a regional service hub with highly skilled, factory trained application, field service and technical telephone-support engineers – several of whom are bilingual to meet the diverse language needs of the region.
As one of our eight Regional Technology Centers, the Southwest Technology Center provides access to our latest machine tool technology, process and application engineering, training facilities, educational seminars, industry events as well as opportunities to collaborate with our VIP cutting tool, workholding and automation partners to develop new manufacturing solutions.
Furthermore, the Southwest Technology Center plays a key role in channeling customer input to our North American Manufacturing Plant in Florence, Kentucky for the development of new machine tool technology. It also works in close collaboration with our North American Parts Center and National Technology Center in Florence to ensure our Southwest customers receive unmatched support.
Since opening in Houston, the Southwest Technology Center has undergone three expansions including our most recent investment in 2011. Today, the Technology Center comprises a state-of-the-art, 30,000 square-foot facility conveniently located on 4.5-acres of land only 20-minutes the Bush Intercontinental Airport. This latest expansion further enhances the resource available to visitors through the addition of a 100-seat conference room, fully-furnished programming classroom, and expanded technology floor suited for advanced Multi-Tasking machine tools, big bore Turning Centers, and 5-axis Vertical Machining Centers.
The Southwest Technology Center's strategic proximity to regional oil and gas manufacturers positions it as the core of such industry focused process and product innovation. The development of complete turnkey systems and products, such as our ORBITEC 20, are direct results of this close collaboration between the Technology Center's highly skilled and knowledgeable application engineers and customers.
As manufacturers continue to seek a competitive edge against the increase in global competition, our Southwest Technology Center, and seven other Mazak Technology Centers, stands as steadfast resources providing the best manufacturing solutions and support.
