Florence, Kentucky, August 27, 2009 – Mazak continues its strong and long-term commitment to innovation in product development and advanced manufacturing technology with the establishment of the new Mazak World Research & Development Center. Located in Oguchi, Japan, the center was established to reduce design-to-market time by three to five months for new products and units, including assembly, testing and evaluation. Prior to the founding of the World R&D Center, prototyping was completed at the manufacturing plant where the product was produced.
Florence, Kentucky, July 13, 2009 – Mazak is currently investing $9 million in new machines at its lean manufacturing plant in Florence, Kentucky. This investment involves installation of four new VERSATECH V-100N machines. Two of the machines have already been installed and put into production lines. The V-100Ns replace six of the older V-100 models from Mazak’s FMS line and allow for much higher levels of productivity.

Florence, Kentucky, April 9, 2009 – Mazak's versatile VTC-200G Vertical Machining Center is once again available for part production of long or heavy workpieces. Manufactured in Florence, Kentucky, the vertical machining center is equipped with a long, fixed working table (154.3" x 20.1") that accommodates up to 4,600 lbs., and can be partitioned to allow for machining on one side while an additional setup takes place on the other. This enables operation similar that of a pallet changer but with additional flexibility.

With an interface similar to those found on major retailers’ websites, customers can view past orders and track the shipping progress of current orders. Through the ability to search for parts by part number or description, customers can also easily peruse the catalog of over 46,000 unique part numbers that are shipped from Mazak’s North American Parts Center in Florence, Kentucky. Additionally, price and availability of each part can be viewed through the online parts system.
Mazak is pleased to announce the appointment of Tim Fara to the position of General Manager for the company's Midwest Headquarters and Technology Center in Schaumburg, Illinois. Mr. Fara recently joined Mazak from Kennametal (Extrude Hone), where he served as the Global Market Segment Manager for the machine tool industry.
