STUDENT OUTREACH

DISCOVER 2013 kicked off with a student outreach event, called Mfg the Nxt Genr8n, where Mazak opened its manufacturing plant to more than 230 high school students from around Northern Kentucky as well as students from Gateway Community and Technical College – where Mazak is heavily involved in its vocational program – and Cincinnati State College.

"Mazak is actively engaged in strategies to help solve the skilled labor problem in our area and across North America. Our student event allowed local youth and their teachers to get an up-close look at advanced manufacturing in a real-world scenario, " said Papke. "There is this misconception among the younger generation that manufacturing jobs are dirty and involve little skill, but nothing could be further from the truth. Manufacturing careers are highly lucrative and today's production environments are clean, sophisticated and high-tech."
