Course Catalog

We offer a wide variety of courses, from operator development to electrical troubleshooting to advanced programming, so that our customers can maximize their Mazak investment and increase their productivity.

Our courses run between two and five days and take place at our National Technology Center in Florence, Kentucky as well as our Regional Technology Centers spread across North America. We also accept special requests to train groups of maintenance personnel at customer locations.

Multi-Tasking User Groups

Our Multi-Tasking User Groups are open forums where customers, Mazak applications engineers and integrated Mazak solution partners can discuss the latest in Multi-Tasking technology as well as the issues, opportunities and challenges surrounding manufacturers today. These forums also enable customers to expand their Multi-Tasking expertise by discovering new ways to apply this highly productive technology in their shops.

Logistics

We want to make attending our training courses as easy as possible, so we’ve put together a list of important details as well as Technology Center directions and hotel maps so you know what to expect.

• A large majority of our classes are held at our Customer Service Headquarters, located inside the National Technology Center (East Building) on our Florence, Kentucky campus. We also make classes available at our seven Regional Technology Centers that are located across North America.
• Depending on the topic, class sessions run between two and five days. Classes typically start at 8:30 am and end at 4:30 p.m., except for the last day of the session where 3 p.m. is usually the end time.
• Class tuition fees cover professional instruction, class materials, manuals and daily lunches. Attendees who do not have a certificate of exemption on file with us will have to pay a 6% sales tax on their manuals.
• Attendees are responsible for all travel-related expenses, including hotel accommodations, meals, entertainment and transportation. Upon registration, we provide preferred hotel and car rental rates. Hotels provide transportation to and from the Mazak campus as well as airport shuttle service.
• Classes fill up quickly and attendees must reserve their spots in advance and confirm their space with a purchase order. Class registration is available online or by faxing the print request form to the Customer Service Headquarters at (859) 342-1520.

National Training Instructors

Richard Ackerman

Having joined Mazak in 2005, Richard teaches a variety of maintenance classes on a wide range of machines at Mazak and customer locations. He is an examiner for all levels of Certified Electronic Training Rating, including Journeyman Certification and the FCC exam. Prior to his current role, Richard spent 20 years as a service technician and maintenance engineer as well as 16 years as an electronic technician for the Navy where he worked on various aircraft. He holds a BSEET degree from the University of New York at Albany and enjoys genealogy projects and gardening in his spare time.

Dave Brinson

Dave has been a Mazak trainer since 1986 and currently teaches a wide range of programming classes. Prior to this role, he spent nine years as a Mazak applications engineer. Before starting his manufacturing career, Dave attended the University of Cincinnati. When he is not teaching, he enjoys traveling.

Roy Gentry

Roy became a Mazak trainer in 2007 and currently teaches various maintenance courses. He has also served as a Mazak field service engineer and large machine installer, performing countless INTEGREX e-Series machine installations. Roy has a BS in Industrial and Engineering Technology and an MS in Industrial Technology from Morehead State University. Licensed by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association, the Amateur Baseball Umpire Association, the Collegiate Baseball Umpire Alliance and the Southeast Independent Umpire Association, Roy officiates high school and college sports as well as NCAA conferences in his spare time.

Applications Engineers

Michael Finn

As an instructor at Mazak’s Center for Multi-Tasking and Manufacturing Excellence, Mike teaches a variety of classes on topics that range from EIA/ISO programming for Multi-Tasking machines to machine tool user groups. When he is not teaching, he is developing new and improved machining processes for the aerospace and medical industries, which includes the testing of equipment and parts to enhance the Multi-Tasking machining of jet engines.

Dave Jackson

Because he enjoys interacting with customers, Dave has been a Mazak applications engineer since 2000. He teaches advanced programming classes and hands-on operation courses at both Mazak and customer locations. Dave has more than 20 years of manufacturing experience involving a wide range of applications, from metalcutting to woodworking. Before starting his manufacturing career, he graduated with honors from ITT Technical Institute with a bachelor of applied science as an electrical engineering technician. His favorite Mazak machine is the INTEGREX and he enjoys fly fishing and playing guitar in his free time.
